Dog Training

We are planning for a Trip to Virginia Beach later this month.  Anika-Belle will start her Schutzhund Training with Dutch East Schutzhund Club.  We have been training with Carla and Fred for almost 13 years and have almost got used to the 10 hour drive to see them in Virginia Beach.   http://www.dutcheastbouviers.com/history.html

Anika is a Very Promising Bouvier Gal with the best temperament we have ever seen!  She is just the sweetest little girl ever, but she is VERY high drive.   She reminds us so much of her Aunt Torra, but seems to have a bit more personality than Torra had.   We still miss Torra terribly but Anika-Belle has brought so much to us which makes it hurt just a bit less.

Ajax is also in training as a squirrel and rabbit dog and he is doing great as well.  Ajax is a very obedient dog and really wants to please us.  We finally got his DNA results back and it appears that he is a true terrier which we really had not doubt.  His DNA came back as
Rat Terrier / Smooth Coat Fox Terrier with a bit of Manchester Terrier.   He is a true hunter and is a snake/ lizard killing machine!  He amazes us with his snake killing ability.  We did take him last week and got him the rattle snake vaccination jut in case since we have a lot of Timber Rattlers in our area.

Duke is our old man but he certainly doesn't act his age.  As far as we know he is very healthy for a 13 year old.  He moves great and still jumps and runs with the young dogs.

Lil Girl and Evie are the best of friends and love just hanging out and playing together.  They both sleep with Lauren each night and sometimes Ajax joins them.

Just got home from the Homeschool Conference in Atlanta

The Homeschool Conference in Atlanta was Fantastic!  I attended several seminars and leaned tons of new information.   One of my favorite seminars was with Sue Becker of The Bread Beckers
www.breadbeckers.com - I have always made my own homemade breads, but I had no idea of the value of doing so for my family.  We just knew it tasted much better!

I also found some fabulous curriculum choices for Lauren since she have a love of medical science and of course animals I lucked upon a curriculum called Veterinary & Animal Science by the company called In the Hands of a Child.

The rest of the curriculum I have decided on for this coming year is based on past experience and some new friends I met at the conference.

Math - well will stick with Math-U-See but also use Teaching Textbooks as soon as they come out with a MAC version later this year.

English - The Winston Grammar Program - we have used the program in the past and really liked it even thought it is usually used for an older child - Lauren seem to grasp it very well.

Vocabulary/Spelling -  English from the Roots Up - Greek and Latin Root Words - LOVE this Program!

History - The Mystery of History - This will be a new for us, but we are looking forward to it.

Science - Sonlight with supplement of the Vet Science Unit Studies

Extracurricular Activities - We will remain active in 4-H with the Dogs, Rabbits and Public Speaking.   Lauren will also stay active in Softball playing for the Auburn League.  She plays Pitcher and 2nd Base.

Still searching for Field Trips but we did find a wonderful manual of Georgia Day Trips at the convention so we will be searching them soon.

Welcome to My Blog

Hello All and Welcome to My Blog!   As you probably have already figured out this blog is about my Daughter (Lauren Grace) age 10 and My Dogs - (Duke) age 13,  (Evie) age 9, (Lil Girl) age 4, (Ajax) age 3 and (Anika-Belle) age 5 months.   Duke and Anika-Belle are both Bouvier des Flandres Dogs.  Anika-Belle is our 4th Bouvier to own.   Our 2nd was Widget as Rescue Bouvier and our 3rd was Torra Casa de Mandingo.  We lost Torra at age 9 back in July 2008 of Stomach Disease.  Widget died in 2006 age the age of 8 of Canine Lymphoma.  Lil Girl is the mother of Ajax and they are both Smooth Fox Terrier Mixes and Ajax is also part Rat Terrier. Evie is a purebred Rat Terrier.
